Thoubal, September 04 2022:
In a shocking incident, a group of 4 people claiming to be civil commandos of Imphal East district visited the residence of United Committee Manipur (UCM) HRD secretary RK Mangisana at Wangjing Purna Heituppokpi on Saturday and reportedly threatened and brutally beat up his brother.
The group asked various unrelated questions to the younger brother and allegedly took away the gold jewellery and money on his person, before dumping him in a nearby hill.
The younger brother has been identified as RK Raju alias Inao (42) s/o (L) RK Ningthempishak of Purana Wangjing Heituppokpi.
Meanwhile, a case has been lodged at Thoubal PS in this regard.
Addressing a press meet on Sunday morning, RK Mani-sana's younger brother Raju recounted that the incident occurred at around 7pm on Saturday.
The group of people wore masks and came in an unregistered white colour Swift car.
They showed their identity cards, identifying themselves as civil commandos of Imphal East and said they wanted to talk.
The family tried to welcome them inside but the group insisted on going outside.
When he (Raju) stepped outside the gate, they threatened him and pushed him into the car at gun point and blindfolded him.
They then beat him up and ordered him to answer truthfully the questions like whether he purchased guns and was involved in the black market.
They also asked unrelated questions like why his (Raju) Scorpio was white in colour when it said red in the paper.
The group later forcefully took away the Rs 35,000 cash he had to pay a mason along with the gold jewellery and ring he wore, then threw him off the vehicle and beat him up again before dumping him at a nearby hill.
When he opened his eyes a few moments later, the group was nowhere in sight.
Raju then dragged himself to the nearest light he could see, which happened to be someone's house and enquired the residents, who told him that he was in Uyal Khunou.
He then called his brother Mangisana through the phone of one of the residents, and his brother came to pick him up.
UCM HRD secretary RK Mangisana, who also attended the press meet, condemned the assault on his younger brother by the group claiming to be civil commandos of Imphal East district, while he was not at home.
Although it is hard to believe that Imphal East commandos could be involved in the incident, he hoped for a clarification from Imphal East commandos on the matter.
Even if the Imphal East commandos are not involved, Mangisana urged the government to investigate the matter and discern the identity of the group.
The needle of suspicion is pointing on Imphal East commandos because the group did show their ID cards.
He then questioned who would be responsible if any unwanted consequences had occurred during the incident on Saturday and what fault has been committed on his side.
The press meet was also attended by members of local Meira Paibi, clubs and organisations.
