Don't release drug peddlers till owner arrested: Bodies

Along with a convening of public meeting in connection with the drug haul case from Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai on September 1, Thangmeiband Athletic Union (THAU) has resolved to demand that the government authorities should not release those involved in the drug case until the kingpin/owner is arrested, among other resolutions adopted.
Informing this in a release, THAU secretary Rk Joychandra said that the public meeting was attended by Watham Leirak Meira Paibi president Khundrakpam Ambrabati, THAU Meira Paibi president Soubam Ibechoubi, Khunthokhanbi Meira Paibi president Mayanglambam Ibeyaima, Meisnam Leikai Makha Singlup secretary Khumukcham Bira Meitei and THAU president Krishna Gopal among others.
The resolutions taken in the meeting included restriction on selling and using of addictive substances in the locality; denouncing September 1 drug haul incident and supporting government's campaign of 'War on Drugs'.
While demanding that the authorities arrest all those involved in the September 1 drug haul case and the owner in particular, the meeting further resolved that the legal professionals should not help the drug peddlers.
All hotels/ shops in Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai and area under the jurisdiction of THAU should close by 9 pm and actions will be taken up against those violating the resolutions of the meeting, he continued, while adding that meira paibi and club volunteers will be vigilant from 9 pm onwards starting from Sunday in and around the area.
The meeting also resolved to form a committee along with representatives of 'Singlup', club and meira paibi at the earliest, he added.
