Tamenglong, August 20 2014:
Highlighting the plight of the people living in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district, the Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC), Tousem has urged the concerned authority to provide necessary assistance to the Primary Health Centre and other Primary Health Sub-Centres of the Sub-Division.
In a statement issued by its secretary Chinghiamang, VACC pointed out that the PHC and other PHSCs in Tousem Sub-Division have remained closed and defunct due to poor medical assistance by the Government.
When Karuna Trust took care of it, Tousem PHC ran properly and served the community, the statement stated, while adding that since the State Government took over the PHC in October last year, no doctor or nurse has been posted at the PHC and in all PHSCs.
Moreover, the road connecting New Kaiphundai to Tousem Headquarters, which is the only lifeline of the people, is very narrow and in deplorable condition.
The road needs widening and improvement, the statement added.
The statement further said that presence of Government Agencies like PWD, Medical and others in Tousem Sub-Division is not felt by the people.
