Govt orders schools to jab teachers

Imphal, September 02 2021:
Citing improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the state, the government of Manipur conveyed that it is eyeing to reopen educational institutions in the near future.
In sync with its plan to resume conventional educational activities, an order has been issued to ramp up vaccination process for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
As per the order issued by commissioner (education) M Harekrishna, the director of university and higher education, DMU/MTU registrar, Technical Education controller and SCERT/DDO joint director have been advised to consider vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff at the earliest to ensure safety in schools and colleges.
It stated that the government is contemplating various modalities for opening the same and will take into consideration all safety measures necessary.
The commissioner also sought a detailed report on the level of vaccination in each school and college of every district at the earliest.
Subsequent to the order, Zonal Education Officer Noney, Thaimei Badan issued notification of organising special vaccination drive for school teachers and staff on priority basis.
It informed that CMO Noney would be arranging vaccination facility at CHC Nungba, PHC Haochong, PHC Khoupum and PHC Noney with immediate effect.
Similarly, Imphal West deputy commissioner Th Kirankumar notified teachers, non-teaching staff and their family members to get vaccinated on September 5 at DM College of Science, NG College and Kindergarten Montessori School, Takyel Kolom Leikai at 10:30 am .
