AR celebrates I-Day with Samtal villagers

Imphal, August 18 2014:
3 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Independence Day with the villagers of Samtal.
A number of programs were conducted by the Assam Rifles for the villagers of Samtal, on this occasion which included a Medical Camp, Football and Volley ball tournaments at village Old Samtal.
A Pipe Band display and friendly Football and Volleyball matches between troops and villagers of village Sehlon and Kovang were organsied.
A painting competition was also held for children at village Tuitong, as also the hoisting of the National Flag was done.
Also, 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated the occasion with students of Mission Blind School at Heikakpokpi, Chandel District.
The event commenced with the Flag Hoisting ceremony followed by patriotic songs performed by the students and finally sweet distribution by the Assam Rifles.
The event was attended by local village authorities along with the School administration.
The Unit reaffirmed its commitments to help the local populace and continue providing assistance to the people of Manipur to ensure their Socio-Economic upliftment and development in the region, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
