Imphal, August 18 2014:
Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) is facing a tumultuous time as rebellion is brewing in the council as almost half of the Councillors are trying to reinstate the former Chairperson.
There are 16 Congress Councillors in IMC while that of other parties is 11 .
Earlier, Congress Councillor N Raghu of Ward No-13 held the post but was defeated in a no-confidence motion following which A Nimai Sharma of Ward No-19 was elected Chairperson.
Recently, some Councillors attempted to move a no-confidence motion against A Nimai Sharma, but it was settled through negotiation after MPCC's intervened into the matter.
Nimai Sharma again faced a vote of no confidence from the Congress Councillors on August 14 in which he got nine votes while N Raghu secured seven.
But a voice vote is being planned for tomorrow and this time all the 11 non-Congress Councillors will take part in it to determine the fate of the incumbent Chairperson.
