New Delhi, August 18 2014:
A call made by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan to his family has kept police from two states on their toes after he went missing.
Jim Reeves Hrilrothang (21), from Manipur, informed his family members on July 27 that he had been robbed at the New Delhi railway station.
They then filed a missing complaint, which was two weeks ago.
Jim was employed as a Constable with the 183 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force based in Jammu.
His family members said he had taken leave early in July, left home on July 13 and reached Delhi on July 16 .
He was scheduled to leave for Jammu on July 26 to report at work.
His family told police that he had called them from a PCO at the railway station that day, saying all his belongings were snatched by goons.
He said he would borrow money on reaching Jammu and call them back.
He reached Jammu on July 27 and even called them but the line got disconnected.
A few days later, the family approached police after failing to establish contact.
They said his colleagues too were clueless.
"We spoke to his friends in Delhi before alerting police but it didn't help," said Sang Hrilrothang, Jim's uncle.
He said Jim had joined the force in 2011 and this was his first posting.
His elder brother is also a jawan with the India Reserve Battalion, while his sister is training as a nurse in Manipur.
Delhi Police said it has received a complaint and contacted their counterparts in Jammu.
The call locations of the PCOs are being traced to find out whether he had reached his destination before the call.
A senior police officer said they are also questioning the friends of the jawan in the city to check if he planned to go elsewhere before joining duty.
They are also trying to find out whether the jawan had registered a case of robbery with the New Delhi railway station police before leaving for Jammu to report for duty.
