ATSUM factions unite on Reservation in Admission Act

A one day open discussion on implementation of Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act, 2012 was organized by Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal here today.
Attended by representatives of various student organisations, many tribal leaders and scholars were also present during the discussion.
The student organizations including All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM led by Muan Tombing) and ATSUM (led by Emboi Serto) also attended the programme.
Taking part in the discussion, secretary Vareiyo Shatshang representing ATSUM (T) and president Emboi Serto representing ATSUM (E) asserted that even though they are different tribal bodies, every possible help would be extended for the cause of the tribal students' demands.
Renowned social activist Somi Keishing, Dr..RSanga and Dr.Gaikhamsin also deliberated on the issues of rights of tribal people in Manipur with special reference to the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act, 2012 .
Dr.Helkhomang Touthang (Ex-President MUTSU) was the moderator during the discussion programme.
After deliberation, the congregation unanimously adopted some resolutions which included to strive for implementation of Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act, 2012 from the academic session 2014-2015 .
The congregation also constituted a co-ordination committee endorsing MUTSU, ATSUM (T) and ATSUM (E) to put the resolution into action for which R.Luckyson Panmei was appointed as the convenor, R..KGidion as the general secretary and Mrs.W Holland Monsang and Kakai Singsit as the spokespersons.
Moreover, one member each from ATSUM (T) and ATSUM (E) were also appointed as Co � Convenors during the session today.
