Lamka, August 18 2014:
Expressing dismay over the selection of a native of Bihar, who is presently staying in Churachandpur town in the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMP) 2014 under Manipur state quota, Paite Students' Welfare Association today said issuance of residential, domicile and tribe certificates without meeting the existing local criteria is a matter of serious concern which can be construed as a blatant disregard of the rights of the state's local communities.
A press statement of the students' body said it is utterly shocking to learn that one Rajesh Kumar, son of Rambilas Sah who is a native of Bihar state but currently residing at Zenhang Lamka, Churachandpur town has been selected in the recently held All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMP), 2014 under unreserved category of Manipur state quota.
Drawing the attention of all communities, the students' body urged all concerned to be cautious and vigilant on issues related to identity, culture, right on land and resources, etc to safeguard the Constitutional rights of the tribals as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
In the wake of this unwanted development of forfeiting the scarce state quota by a non-local candidate, Paite Students' Welfare Association, Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) General Headquarters has also stated that all house owners having non-local traders as tenant or occupants shall verify their bonafide identity and only those who meet the essential criteria shall be allowed to occupy rents on temporary basis.
"The concerned persons and competent authority of Village Authorities or Government offices embroiled in this unscrupulous act deserve condemnation, as such village authorities and competent officials shall not issue Permanent Residential Certificate, but only Temporary Residential Certificates after thorough and proper verification with valid documents required in this regard", it said.
