Imphal, February 11 2013:
The People's Democratic Alliance (PDA), a regional political party based in Manipur hills has apprised the Prime Minister of India to address the 'Alternative Arrangement' for the Manipur Nagas.
The PDA also urged the Prime Minister to expedite the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks.
In a memorandum submitted to Dr Manmohan Singh today, the party claims that PDA is a recognized political party based in Manipur.
In the memorandum, the party pointed out that the ongoing peace process between the government of India and the NSCN (IM) has been running for the last 15 years without solution so far.
"It is the longest and the first revolutionary movement in the south East Asia affecting the entire north east India region.
It is high time for the government of India to come up with a political will for bringing an honourable and permanent solution at the earliest.
Delaying tactics of the government of India will not serve any purpose.
It will be wise on the part of the government of India to treat this issue as a core national issue," the PDA asserted.
The PDA also urges that the government of India to solve politically to the demands of all the revolutionary groups so as to bring a lasting peace in the region.
The PDA then deplores the recent all political party delegation of Manipur to New Delhi.
According to the PDA memorandum, the decision and policy of this all-party delegation was to sabotage the Naga movement.
All the valley based political parties represent only the view of the valley people, alleged the memorandum of the PDA.
On the "Alternative Arrangement" issue, the PDA in its memorandum said the demand of the Alternative Arrangement is the causal effect of the pending solution to the protracted Indo Naga political issue.
"Therefore, the government of India should endeavor with political will to resolve the Alternative Arrangement demand pending the settlement of Indo-Naga issue," it added.
