Education Minister inaugurates

Education Minister M Okendro has today conveyed the Government's plans to set up residential schools in all the districts and setting up of Polytechnic institute each in the 9 districts of the State in order to facilitate quality education in the State.
Okendro was addressing the gatherings while inaugurating Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya under SSA at Moirang and a Residential School at Laingoubi under Kumbi AC today.
Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya which was inaugurated today at Moirang is the first residential school for girls in the State.
He said Residential School in each district would be set up in order to provide facility to underprivileged students.
Stressing on the need to facilitate a change in the education sector of the State, M Okendro said efforts would be put on to increase the number of students in residential schools.
Though the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya is meant for hill areas, the same has been set up in the valley after convincing the authority concerned on the need of such institutes, Okendro said.
He further said upgradation of 116 schools under RMSA is pending.
Efforts are on to recruit teachers on adhoc basis through concerned DCs so as to fill teachers shortage.
He also stated that after the TET exam in March, candidates without BEd credential or diploma holder (DIET) would not be allowed to appear the TET exam.
The Minister also urged the teachers not to lobby for transfer after the start of academic session.
Director of Education (S) and Project Director SSA/RMSA, H Deelip Singh, who also attended the programmes, said one Residential School has been set up in Tamenglong and three in Chandel district.
He urged the people to participate in any public welfare activities taken up by the Government.
The Minister also inaugurated the School building of Ithai Khunou Govt HS under RMSA.
Parliamentary Secretary Mairembam Prithiviraj; MLA of Kumbi AC S Bira Singh; DC of Bishnupur, Jason A Shimray; ZEO of Bishnupur L Guni Singh; District Programme Manager E Satyajit Singh also accompanied the Minister.
