Imphal, May 08 2015 :
Amidst reports about incursion and construction of road by the Southern Angami Naga People's Organisation (SANPO) in Dzuko Valley on the side of Manipur, the course of the river which drains the valley has been diverted towards the direction of Nagaland.
Acting on reports about construction of a rest house by SANPO, Senapati district administration sent officials for field assessment.
Reports of the field assessment were sent to the State Government twice asking for a directive for the next course of action.
Senapati district administration sent a report to the State Government on February 1 this year and another report one week earlier, informed a well placed source.
Even though both the reports sought Government directive for the next course of action, there has been no response till date.
The reports clearly conveyed that SANPO intruded 15 Kms into the territory and they were constructing road apart from building a rest house using heavy machinery.
In addition, the course of the river which drains Dzuko valley has been diverted towards Nagaland.
Diversion of the river course would severely affect the ecology of the valley and it may sound the death knell of Dzuko Lily, conveyed the source.
