Imphal, February 04 2014:
Women Action for Development (WAD) sought urgent intervention in connection of the Prime Minister in connection with the insecurity faced by people from North East India in general and women, children and girls in particular in the various metropolitan cities of the country more particularly in the National capital, Delhi.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, WAD asserted that the various instances of systematic and intentional attack upon North East youths and girls on racist line clearly indicated that the people of the North East are no more secured in any part of India.
The memorandum signed by WAD Secretary Sobita Mangsatabam also cited the recent incidents of the brutal murder of (Late) Nido Tania, a 19-year old student from Arunachal Pradesh and the assault of two Manipuri women at Delhi to draw the attention of the Prime Minister for necessary action against the Delhi Police who wilfully neglected and refused to register complaint cases in time as to enable people from North East to feel safe and secure.
