Fierce gun fight at Tamenglong, no report of casualty

Imphal, February 04 2014:
A fierce gunbattle ensued place between NSCN-IM and combined rebels of NSCN-K and ZUF in Oinamlong village in Manipur's hill district Tamenglong today.
Police reported that casualty could be confirmed in the ensuing clash, saying it took place about 10.10 am.
Oinamlong village is located under Tousem Police Station in Tamenglong, about 156 km from here.
Although the area, where the armed rebels of the three tribal outfits fought, falls under Tousem Police Station, Nungba police has registered a case over the incident since the area is located closer to it, the police said.
Oinamlong is located about 60 kms west of Nungba Police Station, they said.
They said the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and NSCN-K formed one side in the gunbattle and the NSCN-IM on the other.
Assam Rifles and CRPF personnel posted nearby the area have been alerted following the gunbattle, they added.
