Police SI suspended: Gaikhangam

Police sub inspector S Dhananjoy of Singjamei police station involved in the shooting incident at Singjamei on Tuesday has been suspended.
Disclosing this to local residents who had gone to submit a memorandum to the Home Minister, Gaikhangam further said that all those who are involved in the incident would be pulled up.
It may be recalled that under the command of this SI, two VDF, one constable and one driver had gone around during the general strike and had tried to arrest some persons who were whiling away their time by playing cards.
They also allegedly vandalised one shop AK Enterprises and a kiosk and took away some money from the cash box.
They also took away one licenced air gun, two double barrel guns and two diaries.
Gaikhangam was reported to have assured the residents that these items will be returned.
Earlier the residents held a public meeting during which four resolutions were taken.
Appropriate actions should be taken up against those involved within 48 hours, compensation and medical aid in form of money should be given to the injured, an action committee of the meira paibis would be formed and another ad -hoc committee was also formed to ensure that the government complies with the demands.
Soon after the meeting the residents tried to storm the police station.
However they were dispersed with tear gas shells which were fired from within the station.
Reports said that the live bullet which hit the left thigh of Robinson had exited.
It was a rubber bullet which hit his right ankle.
