Imphal, July 29 2015:
Joint Students' Union of Government Higher Secondary Schools on Wednesday vowed to continue with its school boycott agitation until a definite assurance is given by the Government to punish all police personnel involved in Sapam Robinhood's killing.
"Until all students of the State are given the Right to Life and Right to Freedom, we're not withdrawing the boycott agitation," a statement of the union also said.
The union condemned the alleged police brutality meted out to the student community and took serious note of the Education Minister for allegedly attempting to deploy security personnel in educational institutes and militarise the areas.
Police had used abusive words, rubber bullets and tear gas shells against student protesters and even killed Sapam Robinhood during ILP protest, the union rued.
The union of eight Higher Secondary Schools said it will carry on the ongoing school boycott agitation in Greater Imphal area, which began on July 17, to safeguard the rights of students and to put pressure on the Government for awarding exemplary punishment to all police personnel responsible for Sapam Robinhood's killing.
The union also doubted deliverance of justice after the judicial inquiry to be conducted into the Sapam Robinhood Killing stating that such inquiries conducted in the past were all fruitless.
The union warned that police personnel should not be deployed within 100 m radius of any school or college.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School Students' Union has condemned the State Government for shutting down all educational institutes in Imphal East and Imphal West since July 8 .
It demanded the Government to re-open all schools and colleges in the two districts immediately and warned of intense agitation if the demand is not met.
The union also paid tribute to Sapam Robinhood who was killed in police action during ILPS protest on July 8 and pledged to join and support the ongoing ILPS movement launched under the banner of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) to protect the interests of the indigenous people.
