Flood waters at Tentha Khunou spread to adjacent villages

Imphal, July 29 2015:
A 40-ft stretch of the embankment of the Wangjing River at Tentha Khunou in Thoubal District breached on Tuesday night leaving several villages and 2,000 paris of paddy fields inundated.
The flood waters also continued to spread to adjacent villages on Wednesday.
The embankment caved in on Tuesday midnight after which flood waters entered Tentha Khunou.
An English medium school at the village has also been flooded.
Tentha Khunou village has a population of about 2,000 .

The situation turned grim as the flood waters from the river have also inundated adjacent villages of Tentha Khongban, Khangabok Maning, Uchiwa, Thoubal Leishangthem, besides several paddy fields and fish farms.
Sources said locals were making efforts to repair the breached embankment.
They complained that the local MLA and the Government authorities have so far not responded to the situation.
