'CCpur district hospital to be upgraded to medical college'

Preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) regarding upgradation of Churachandpur district hospital to the status of a medical college is on, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing.
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration functions of the newly constructed Primary Health Sub-Centres (PHSCs) at Pearsonmun and Mata villages in Churachandpur district.
The occasion also marked the launching of the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight in the district from July 29 to August 10 .
The Minister said that following a Cabinet decision, the State Government is preparing the detailed project report of upgrading Churachandpur district hospital as the second medical college of the State by increasing the number of beds from 100 to 200 .
Saying that Churachandpur is the second largest town of the State, the Minister said that the Government is putting in efforts to bring development in medical and other important sectors.
Informing that he would try to set up a labour room at Mata PHSC, the Minister said that one doctor would be deputed at the health centre from tomorrow.
He further said that construction of staff quarters of the PHSC would commence from the next year.
Speaking at the occasion, Directorate of Health Services Director Dr Okram Ibomcha said that the State now has 421 PHSCs.
Facilities of child delivery, routine check-ups for pregnant women and immunization etc would be available at the newly inaugurated PHSCs, he said.
Family Welfare Services Director Dr K Rajo urged the people to extend co-operation to the staff of the PHSCs for its smooth running.
Churachandpur DC Lunminthang Haokip was also present at the occasion.
