Water logging wreaks havoc at Grace Colony

A lot of inconveniences have caused to surrounding areas of Langol-Lanthungching, Guigailong, Grace Colony,Tarung-Neikanlong, ICAR-Lamphel and Imphal Tennis Association Quarters due to the rise of flooded water level following incessant rainfalls in the past few weeks.
Muddy stinking water from different directions has flooded the churches, houses and roads while hundreds of residents had already fled their home to take shelter in neighbouring localities.
A joint statement by Athui Goimei (Social worker), Rev Phungmi Pastor UBC,Abon Kamei (Former ZU Leader), Panti Gonmei (President RLP), Bogen (Youth President Grace Colony) stated that there is a likelihood of spreading diarrhoea and other water born diseases; the flooded areas are being infested with insects and reptiles.
However, the Manipur Government officials fail to visit this flooded area and the IFCD Department is still yet to take any step to tackle the situation, added the statement.
The statement further said that the road leading to Grace Colony from Fishery Gate Lamphelpat via RNBACC slips into worst state due to potholes and water logging.
It said that the RNBACC area is the worst affected one with water logging in the middle of the road due to collection of loose soil and rain water on the sunken road.
No proper drainage system is maintained and this dirty muddy water is flowing towards the residential areas, alleged the statement.
While demanding immediate relief materials to the affected homes and people, the statement added that the road leading to RNBACC is frequented by Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, but the condition of the road has gone from bad to worst.
