Imphal, July 29 2015:
Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) flayed the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and JAC against the killing of Sapam Robinhood on indefinite blocking of the Dingku Road.
A statement issued by TYCM Secretary Lh Decemhring said that the ILP is a common issue for both the hills and valley people.
He however alleged that due to non-inclusion of representatives from the hills in the JCILPS, the hill people could not join the movement.
Decemhring further said that before launching any agitations or movements which are based on common issues, the tribal apex bodies should be taken into confidence.
He also said that valley people should have consulted the tribal apex bodies before launching their demands and agitations for the implementation ILP in the state.
The hill people still do not know what are the actual demands and therefore, they are not supposed to join the protest, said the TYCM secretary.
As per tribal customs, an individual or group cannot join such movements without the prior consent from the apex bodies, the statement further added.
While mouring the death of Sapam Robinhood and sharing the sorrow with the bereaved family, TYCM said the indefinite blockade along Ukhrul road and other leading road like Dingku Road and tribal inhabited areas within Imphal by JAC has caused many inconveniences to the public particularly to Ukhrul District.
Decemhring alleged that still other roads in the Imphal areas are free from blockade and only blocking Dingku road is like targeting a particular community.
TYCM further appealed the State Government, JAC and JCILPS and other well-known valley based civil organizations to look into the matter so as to prevent the development of any communal feelings between hills and valleys, the statement said.
