Imphal, July 29 2015:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has announced the launch of a sustained civil disobedience movement against the State Government stressing the importance of maintaining the right stance on the ILPS movement.
A statement released by JCILPS assistant media coordinator on Wednesday said the Government should stop from indulging in "double-standard policy" on Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) issue.
The committee feels that the assurance that Drafting Committee would present the ILP Draft Bill within three days' time had turned out to be a false one.
The announcement seeking opinion and suggestions from the public for the proposed draft bill has clearly shown that the Government is not sincere enough, the committee said.
At the same time, the Government was yet to intimate the JCILPS formally to prove concrete steps had been taken for the ILP Bill acceptable to all, said the Committee.
JCILPS sent a strong message to the Government that such objectionable course of action will not bring any good result at all.
In pursuit of the long-pending demand, the current agitation spearheaded by the JCILPS will continue with sustained civil disobedience movement, said the press statement.
The committee appealed the people to join the intensified protest against the Government in all nooks and corner of the State.
As part of the civil disobedience movement, people have been urged to organise mass rally, sit-in protests and road blockades, the statement urged.
It also declared that using police force against the public movement will aggravate the situation.
The committee, however, appealed the public to allow free movement to ambulance, water suppliers, media persons, patients, power department workers and exempt religious activities from the purview of the protest.
JCILPS expressed regret to all concerned for the unwanted disturbances caused to them.
The people will have trust and confidence in the Government only when it presents an ILP Bill incorporating the suggestions already submitted earlier and the key five points recommended by the committee, maintained JCILPS.
The committee demanded that the Government also consider the recent resolution adopted at the recent public convention.
JCILPS expressed serious concern over the Government's alleged apathy shown towards the Sapam Robinhood's killing and condemned it for defending all police personnel involved in the killing.
The Government cannot repress the public movement by closing down all educational institutes, said JCILPS and alleged that such move of the Government is an attempt to misguide the student community and people as well.
