Imphal, October 28 2016:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has asked BRO to complete all road projects they have been handling in Manipur by February 2017 .
A press release issued by AMUCO publicity secretary I Brojen categorically stated that BRO should leave Manipur if they cannot meet the deadline.
BRO/BRTF and the Central Government have been monopolising all the National Highways passing through Manipur.
The way BRO has been working on Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH 37) does not look like they are constructing/maintaining the highway.
Rather it looks like a conspiracy to permanently settle in Manipur.
AMUCO never believes in the work ethics of BRO.
While swindling huge amount of money in the name of constructing highways, BRO has been treating highway projects as a convenient mode of time pass, it asserted.

Even though it has been decades since BRO has been handling NH-37, the highway has improved very little.
A joint team of AMUCO and the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation (RNYO) recently inspected the condition of NH 37, particularly the dilapidated sections near Makru bridge.
The inspection team included AMUCO president Ph Deban, vice-president Sarat Golmei, general secretary S Sanjoy, RNYO (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) president G Gangphun and RNYO president Singamlu Damei.
Transporters as well as the general public faced a very hard time after a 6 Km long section of the highway sunk near Makru Bridge after the last rainy season.
The inspection team came across a team of the Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) who were repairing the dilapidated sections at their own expense.
The joint team of AMUCO and RNYO were gratified on seeing that the dilapidated sections were repaired quite impressively.
Now the same sections do not pose any risk to movement of vehicles, it conveyed.
Asserting that the State Government and the general public ought to cooperate with the TDC regarding their initiative of repairing the highway, AMUCO informed that they would pay special attention to all highway projects henceforth.
