JNIMS has introduced many state of the art facilities with an aim to promote medical tourism in the State, said JNIMS Director Prof L Deben.
Apart from using different modern equipment, the medical institute has been giving treatment to many needy patients free of cost, he said while speaking to reporters at the medical institute today.
He said that TB which was once regarded as dreaded can be detected through newly installed Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CB NAAT) within two hours at JNIMS.
Prof Deben further said that the institute now has high-end testing equipments to detect different ailments of liver, thyroid and kidney etc.
He also said that JNIMS has started using modern blood testing equipment as well.
Stating that most of the instruments and labs available at private hospitals and diagnostic centres had been installed at JNIMS as well, Prof Deben said that such equipments have started giving benefits to poor people as testing/diagnostic charge is 50 per cent to 75 per cent lower at JNIMS.
The Director said that JNIMS is not a profit oriented institute but a Government hospital which is dedicated to the service of the masses.
Informing that JNIMS' incineration plant can dispose off 100 kg of medical waste per hour, Prof Deben said that the plant has already acquired necessary certificate from the Pollution Control Board.
He further said that the Tesla 3 MRI machine installed at JNIMS can give 60 clear brain slides at one time.
The Director further said that apart from having knee replacement facility, the Orthopaedic Department now has a Spine Clinic.
On the otherhand, the hospital would introduce surgery facilities of Neurology and Urology cases within two months.
He further said that JNIMS now has six beds for multi-drug resistant patients.
Saying that the hospital has given treatment to 12 needy patients free of cost so far, Prof Deben said that the hospital would help these patients to receive an aid of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh each under Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund.
Contending that JNIMS has been trying to enhance patient-doctor relation, Prof Deben urged all concerned to make the medical institute a disturbance free zone.
