Will work hard to reach International level, assures young swimmer Yaiphabi

More efforts will be put in training to be an International level swimmer, assured Yaiphabi Thoudam who clinched a gold medal in the girl's Group-4 50 m backstroke competition at Glenmark Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship held from June 29 to July 2 at Bangalore.
Currently studying Class 6 at Unacco School, Khongman, Yaiphabi Thoudam started swimming since she was in Class 1 with the help of her uncle Deva.
In 2011 she joined a swimming class under the supervision of coach T Thoiba at Sanjenthong Swimming Pool.

With the help of her uncle, Yaiphabi participated in her first State Age Group Tournament, conducted under the aegis of Manipur Swimming Association in 2013.Further in 2014, she represented the State in the School Games organised under the aegis of Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyaan (PYKKA) at Bhopal.
In 2015, Yaiphabi secured the seventh position in her National debut at the 32nd Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship held at Pune.
Later in the same year, she represented Manipur in the National Games held at Kerala.
She also participated in the National School Games held in the same year at West Bengal.
Thanks to her efforts in the previous competitions, Yaiphabi clinched her first gold medal at the Glenmark Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship 2016.Representing Manipur Yaiphabi took 39.20 sec in the girl's Group-4 50 m backstroke competition to secure the first position.
Her parents and teachers hailed her success in the championship.
Yaiphabi Thoudam is the daughter of Thoudam Sobhachandra Singh and Th (O) Ranjita of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai.
