Imphal, October 15 2012: Md Allauddin Khan, who was elected twice from Keirao Assembly Constituency and held a ministerial port-folio in the previous Government led by Ibobi, passed away at 5 pm today at New Delhi due to mouth cancer.

Md Allauddin Khan underwent surgery which took 18 hours at BL Kapoor Hospital, New Delhi about three months back.

Following the operation, his health condition improved a bit.

But not long after, his health condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Dharamshala Cancer Hospital at Lakshminagar, New Delhi.

Md Allauddin Khan who was born on April 1, 1959 was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly for the first time from Keirao AC on Congress ticket in 2002.In the very first term, he held the ministerial portfolio of Minister of State for PHED and Power.

He was again elected for the second time in 2007 and this time was inducted as Cabinet Minister for RD &PR and MOBC.

Speaking to media persons at the demise of Allauddin Khan, Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah recalled that one ITI was set up at Lilong apart from establishing the State Minority Commission when Allauddin Khan was a Cabinet Minister.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has expressed shock over the demise of Allau-ddin Khan.

He remarked that Md Allauddin Khan was one of the most promising leaders among Muslim community of Manipur.

His demise is a big loss for Manipur, more particularly so for the Muslim community.

MPCC president and Home Minister Gaikhangam and MP Dr T Meinya have also condoled the demise of Allauddin Khan.

Conveying solidarity to the bereaved family, Amin Shah informed that the mortal remains of Allauddin Khan would be brought to Imphal at 7.15 am tomorrow in an Air India flight.

Amin Shah also appealed to the people to participate in performing last rites of the former Minister.

Allauddin Khan who also worked as a journalist for some period was born in Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai.

Allauddin Khan was also vice-president of AMSU and AMSCOC.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.

Meanwhile, the All Manipur Muslim Organisations Coordinating Committee has condoled the demise of Allauddin Khan.

MLA Fazur Rahim also sent his condolence message over the demise of Allauddin Khan.
