Imphal, October 15 2012:
The underground KRA (U) has denied having any involvement in looting of rice from a truck at Changoubung under Kangpokpi PS along NH-2 .
Talking to this reporter somewhere in Sadar Hills today, C-in-C of KRA (U), SS Brig SHT George Kuki, who is also a member of SoO Joint Monitoring Group said no cadre of the KRA (U) operated at Changoubung village nor there is a camp of the outfit in the area.
Denying the involvement of the KRA (U) cadres in the looting case, the C-in-C of the outfit said the offence might have been perpetrated by a gang group with the attempt to malign the image of the outfit.
Stating that KRA (U) is a signatory group of the SoO agreement under the KNO fold, George Kuki asserted that the outfit did not resort to such acts since the past and would never do so in the future too.
He further clarified that the outfit does not have any camp in and around Kholjang, where a combined team of the Kangpokpi Police and 43 AR claimed to have rescued the handyman of the ill-fated truck.
It may be mentioned that a truck was looted by armed miscreants at Changoubung on October 13 along with the abduction of the handyman of the truck.
The handyman was rescued by a combined team of Kangpokpi police and 43 AR from Kholjang village.
