Mobile testing unit launched : Now RT-PCR results within 3/4 hours

Under the joint initiative of the State Government and Viswanath Cancer Care Foundation (VCCF) and in technical partnership with Tata Medical & Diagnostics (Tata MD), a mobile testing unit for COVID-19 based on RT-PCR CRISPR technology was launched at Modern College Porompat, today.
The mobile testing unit which is a first of its kind in Manipur will not only provide RT-PCR Covid testing facility to people anywhere in Imphal at a cheaper rate, but can also give results 3 to 4 hours after testing.
After launching the mobile testing unit, Advisor (Health) to Chief Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan said that the launch of the mobile testing unit will strengthen the State's fight against the Covid pandemic, as it will not only give cheaper testing facilities, but also more accurate results.
Continuing that the Government alone couldn't defeat the pandemic, Dr Ranjan appealed to every section of the population to strictly adhere to the SOPs for COVID-19.He, on the other hand, said that the expenditure spent outside on cancer treatment will reduce considerably once the Cancer Unit is opened at JNIMS campus.
Dr Ranjan informed that the State Government is considering opening a cancer unit at JNIMS as soon as possible.
Director cum CEO of Karkinos, Director of Manipur Cancer Care Institute Dr GS Moirangthem stated that the mobile testing unit launched today can test around 3,000 samples in one go and can give results within 3 hours.
On Covid, He said that positivity rate in Manipur is still worrying and appealed to the people to get vaccinated without hesitation and obey Covid appropriate behaviours.
Health Director Dr K Rajo, STDC/IRL, Imphal Director Dr W Sashi and State Health Mission, NHM Director Dr N Shyamjai also attended the programme.
