Various bodies of the State have flayed the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015 .
Strongly decrying the Bill, Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup (SANL) demanded its immediate withdrawal.
Addressing a press meet today at the office of SANL at Singjamei Thongam Leikai, Ksh Ibemu, president of SANL lauded the five MLAs who staged a walk out from the Assembly to protest the Bill "The MRVT and MW Bill is not capable of protecting the indigenous populace of the State", said Ibemu while also demanding the review of the Bill and reintroduction of a new one.
She added that SANL will support any form of agitation spearheaded by JCILPS and expressed that the elected leaders should resign on moral ground as they have not kept their words to introduce a Bill to save the indigenous population of Manipur.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Student Guardian Organization (AMSGO) today said that the MRVT&MW Bill will stoke more public protests while expressing strong disapproval of the Bill.
Speaking to media persons at its office today, AMSGO general secretary, S Sunita urged the CM to review the Bill to incorporate the recommendations of the All Political Party Committee on ILP and introduce a more stringent Bill to safeguard the indigenous people of Manipur from migrant influx.
Sunita added that the mistake of political leaders and officials in extending voting rights to non natives of the State has caused serious threat to the indigenous populace and it must be stopped.
She also pledged that AMSGO will support any form of agitation taken up by JCILPS in the future.
