AMCTA suspends stir

Following an understanding reached with the Government during a meeting held at the Chief Minister's office chamber at 6.30 pm yesterday, All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has decided to suspend their cease work strike till March 31 .
In a statement, the association said that the decision was taken as the Chief Minister and Education Minister assured the AMCTA representatives that the teacher's demands would be translated into action at the earliest.
After yesterday's meeting with the Chief Minister and Education Minister, a meeting of college teachers was held at Manipur College today.
The teachers decided to suspend their cease work stir till March 31 in the meeting which was also attended by senior citizens, retired teachers and student representatives.
Saying that AMCTA respects the Government's appeal, the statement said that college teachers would take extra classes to make up for wasted working days.
It also urged the Government to translate its assurance into action within March 31 .
