2-Day documentary film screening concludes

The two-day documentary film screening on arts and culture concluded Wednesday with screening of Kadka, battle songs of Rajputs at 2 pm at Town Hall, Phungreitang.
According to organizer Rahul Jain, the event was organized with a view to exposing young people to different forms of arts and culture from around the world.
"Apart from screening documentary on Manipuri Thang Ta and Indian Classical Music, different documentaries from United Kingdom, Germany, Poland and Denmark were also screened during the festival," he said.
Organized by Films & Cultural Society of North East in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre with the vision of "Documentary Viewing is Education with Illustration," the screening festival saw in attendance hundreds of students from schools like Sacred Heart, Savio, Maringmi, KTL Excel, Public school and Ukhrul Central school for two consecutive days.
"This is my first time viewing such documentary screening.
It is interesting in a different way compared to movies," said a class lX student Ngachammi, while another student Ningya Machinao felt it was entertaining and educative at the same time.
Several teachers from different schools felt that the visual exposure could inspire students to pursue their careers while expressing support and encouragement toward introducing varied documentaries to young learners.
