Muslim Council condemns killing

Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) today condemned the killing of Md Lukman (27) s/o (L) Hisamuddin of Thoubal Moijing Mayai Leikai by unknown persons on March 17 .
The body was found at Ahallup area under Heingang AC of Imphal East district.
General secretary of MCM Haji Arafat Ali in a press meet held at Hatta Minuthong today condemned the killing of Lukman and demanded Heingang PS to file a case.
He also demanded that an investigation in this connection be initiated by the district SP and to book the culprits.
He said that the deceased was missing from his home since March 16 and a missing report was filed on March 17.Later he was found dead by the police.
Pointing out that Lukman had a history of epilepsy and was mentally retarded, the MCM leader said that such a person could not have committed any crime like stealing as reported in some sections of the media today.
MCM urged the people concerned to clarify on why he was killed, also alleging that Lukman was severely tortured before he was killed and such inhuman action must be condemned by all.
He further said that a meeting of all CSOs of Manipur has been called at the office of Pangal Students Organisation located at Hatta Minuthong at 11 am tomorrow while urging all CSOs concerned to participate in the meeting.
Mass rally held .
A mass rally was held today in connection with the death of an 18 year old school student.
Chongtham Satyam s/o Ch Dorendra of Sagoltongba Mayai Leikai met his end on March 14 in an accident along Imphal-Jiribam highway.
The rally was organized by Youth Union Club (YUC), Sagoltongba.
The rally started from Ibudhou Korouhanba Shanglen of Moidangpok and ended at Sagoltongba Mayai Leikai.
The unfortunate accident occurred on March 14 at Moidangpok when a tipper truck plying along the Imphal-Jiribam road hit Satyam, killing him on the spot.
Speaking at the side line of the rally, secretary of YUC Chongtham Jiban Kumar said that the premature death of Satyam and others could have been averted if drivers plying on the roads are careful.
Moreover the traffic volume and the width of the National Highway is disproportionate, he added urging the authority concerned to widen the NHs at the earliest.
