Imphal, June 12 2011:
A market shed and a community hall which have been constructed newly at Waikhong under Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency in Thoubal district was inaugurated today by Works and Transport Minister K Ranjit.
The market shed was constructed by Manipur Development Society at the cost of Rs nine lakhs.
In addition to Works Minister K Ranjit, the inaugural function was attended by Hiyanglam AC MLA and MPCB Chairman E Dwijamani, Deputy Speaker Th Lokeshore and Yaiskul AC MLA E Suraj as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, K Ranjit said that Waikhong Keithel is an important commercial centre not only for Hiyanglam and Sugnu but also for many areas of Chandel district.
He said that the new market shed would be developed further within the current financial year.
He iterated that the SPF Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi has successfully conducted the ADC elections which the earlier Governments could not accomplish.
Ranjit further claimed that the SPF Government has also taken up numerous development projects in its nine years of rule.
Saying that MPP's pre-poll claim of giving Congress a crushing defeat was a hollow propaganda, Ranjit pointed out that Congress won 14 seats in the recent IMC elections.
Moreover many independent candidates have been supporting Congress.
Again the MPP's call to uproot the alleged corruption ridden Congress Government in a political convention held at Charangpat after the IMC elections was an open act of deceiving the public, Ranjit asserted.
CPI leader AB Bardhan's claim that it was during Indrajit Gupta's time as Union Home Minister when steps to remove Assam Rifles from Kangla and repeal of AFSPA 1958 from Manipur were initiated, Ranjit remarked that AB Bardhan's claim smacked of ignorance.
Gupta was a CPI MP.
He further assured that more development programmes would be taken up in Hiyanglam AC after consulting with MPCB Chairman Dr E Dwijamani.
Assembly election is due sometime next year.
