SHRI Smile Train project looks ahead

Chairman cum Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) Dr Kh Palin has pledged to sustain the Smile Train project with an even wider coverage in the years to come.
Delivering the presidential address on the occasion of the fifth anniversary celebration of Smile Train Cleft Project at its Langol auditorium today, Dr Palin asserted that inspite of completing five years since the Project was launched here in the State the same would continue to bring back smiles on those suffering from cleft palate.
Informing that SHRI organised a Smile Train camp at Myanmar to determine Myanmarese nationals recently settled on the Indo-Myanmar border, living with cleft palate, he described the response from across the international border as overwhelming.
Dr Palin also stated that cleft surgery facilities being extended by SHRI to the entire North East region would continue.

Speaking as the chief guest Health Minister L Jayentakumar, applauding the Smile Training Project team, assured to extend all possible assistance from the Health Department's side in order to sustain momentum of human resource development.
Noting that till date since the Project was launched nearly 2000 individuals, including children and adults, have been successfully treated, the Minister expressed that Shija's success story is certain adults, have been successfully treated, the Minister expressed that Shija's success story is certain to have restored smiles of the parents.He also announced that projects for development of medicinal and aromatic plants had already been initiated in the State.Smile Train manager (programmes) Mamtaa Carrol, in her address as the guest of honour respectively called upon the parents to bring their wards suffering from cleft palate for medical examination at the Shija Hospitals, where surgeries would be conducted till complete recovery from the deformities, free of cost.Medical Superintendent of the private centre Dr S Jugindra, speaking at the occasion stated that 1927 surgeries had been carried out to restore smiles of cleft palate patients.
