Imphal, June 12 2011:
Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) felicitated the award winning directors, producers and jury of the 58th National Film Awards 2010 and official delegate of India for the Cannes Film Festival 2011 in a ceremony held at MFDC preview theatre today.
Recently, three State film personalities B Sunzu Sharma for his film, Heart to Heart, Ronel Haobam for his film, The Zeliangrongs and Oinam Doren for his film, Song of Mashangva got National film awards in different categories.
Oken Amakcham and Haobam Paban Kumar were the jury and delegate who represented the State.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, noted filmmaker, Aribam Syam Sharma lauded the State filmmakers for bringing laurels to the State despite the fact that they are facing financial constraints.
Maintaining that there is always stiff competition at the National level, Syam Sharma also expressed concern over Government's prolonged negligence of MFDC.
He added that the State is seemingly paying attention to sports only.
Giving his observation on making good feature films, the noted director stressed on the need for self criticism and Government's financial assistance to filmmakers through MFDC.
Giving his presidential speech, Art and Culture Commissioner RK Nimai urged the filmmakers to exchange ideas and extend co-operation among them in order to produce good films from the State.
MFDC is reviving its lost vigour after remaining in a slump for long.
Later, award winning films, Heart to Heart, The Zeliangrongs and Song of Mashangva were screened.
