Police escort for goods carriers

Jiribam, June 12 2011:
As a pre-emptive measure State security forces comprising of police commandos, IRB and Manipur Rifles left the sub-divisional headquarters today along with about 311 goods laden vehicles.
The vehicle convoy include 247 trucks carrying FCI rice.
The security measures have been taken up in view of the five days economic blockade currently imposed by Jiribam District Demand Committee along the National Highway-53 .
At the time of filing this report there is no information of any untoward incident related to the blockade call.
