Imphal, December 31 2009:
While greeting the people of Manipur on the arrival of new year 2010, the proscribed PREPAK has called upon all revolutionary outfits of the land to come under a common platform and launch a collective liberation movement.
In a statement issued by the outfit's publicity in-charge Aheiba Angom, the outfit prayed that the departing 2009 carry away all kinds of killings, sorrow misery.
Let the new year 2010 bring peace, love, security, prosperity and equality among different ethnic groups, the outfit
wished.
Noting that a liberation movement for a sovereign nation and an egalitarian society has been continuing since many years back, the outfit recalled the establishment of Revolutionary Nationalist Party of Manipur (RNPM) by Angnal Anal, Sagolsem Indramani, RK Maipaksana, Laishram Jugeshwor, Nilamani and Rishang Keishing at a time when the peasants' and workers' movement led by Lamyanba Irabot for an egalitarian society was dying down.
A public meeting was held on April 19, 1953 at Mapal Kangjeibung under the aegis of the RNPM where it was openly demanded for establishment of rule of law in Kangleipak else liberation movement would be launched.
Declaring that the Manipur Merger Agreement 1949 was invalid, the meeting demanded declaration of Manipur as a buffer state under UN Trusteeship.
Following the episode, the need for waging a revolutionary movement was felt and understood by the people.
Then the existing revolutionary outfits took birth one after another.
Although there is a history of a revolutionary movement starting from an early period, New Delhi came to know about it only after the gun-battle of November 12, 1978 at Kameng Leimarok where PLA's Gambhir, then staying at the PREPAK camp there, PREPAK's politburo Kabikanta and Dhiren laid down their lives, the outfit recalled.
In the aftermath of the establishment of political party RNPM in 1953, the then revolutionary pioneers fails to build a mass based movement or initiate a process to take the revolutionary movement to international political arena.
As such, the revolutionary movement is at the germination stage even though the same movement was initiated many years back, the outfit observed.
It was only in 1995 that the revolutionary movement of Manipur was taken to the international stage.
Before this, the revolutionary outfits were concentrated on building their own capacity
and strength.
Rather than focusing on building strength of each group, it's time to build up collective strength, the outfit asserted.
