Shops reduced to ashes at Maram

Senapati, November 12 2018:
A massive fire broke out at Ramlong village along National High-way-2 on Monday at around 1:30 am and reduced 8 shops to ashes.
Fortunately, no casualty or injuries were reported even though a family was residing in the building.
Senapati fire brigade from DHQ rushed to the incident site which is about 24kms away to join the efforts to contain the fire after they were alerted by the villagers, however the incident destroyed properties worth 30 lakh.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to control the fire after an hour.
The shops are owned by Ngiimai Society.
The fire completely consumed a motor-part shop and the building.
The Motor parts shop alone lost parts amounting to Rs 12 lakh.
The source of the fire could not be ascertained till the filling of this report.
Villagers also expressed serious concern over the absence of a fire brigade unit in Maram despite of frequent fire incidents reported while informing that demand for a fire brigade for Maram populace has been made for many years now.
With growing population, the urgent need for a fire brigade is a need of the hour, added the villagers.
