Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Customs Division, Imphal recovered 30,000 WY tablets worth around Rs 3 crore yesterday from Loushipat, located between Langthabal and Sora, Kakching district, said a statement issued by P Roben Singh, Superintendent (A/S).
Acting on specific information that one 30-year-old named Md Zuma Khan of Sora Mamang Leikai will be delivering a huge consignment of Amphetamine tablets of foreign origin valued at around Rs 3-4 crore to an unknown person at Loushipat, officers of the anti-smuggling unit along with two independent witnesses rush to the spot.
At around 5.30 pm (yesterday), the person, identified as Zuma Khan came carrying a black polythene bag.
When the officers rushed to arrest him, he threw away the polythene bag and fled.
The officers chased him but could not arrest him.
On checking the polythene bag, three bundles containing 10,000 number of WY tablets were found, said the statement.
A case had been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is on, it said.
