Imphal, August 04 2020:
The North Imphal Youth Orient Club, a local club in Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai in Imphal West, has drawn the attention of the Chief Minister regarding unavailability of testing kits.
According to a statement of the club, a doctor who tested COVID-19 positive attended a shraddha ceremony in their locality where he distributed cash to people present at the Mandap (done as part of the culture) which included old people.
Yesterday the people who received the cash from the doctor and who had contacted him during the ceremony were picked in a bus sent by the Health Services for testing at Oriental College.
The club said that it was very disappointing that the people who included weak old people, after waiting for a long time, had to return without testing after a staff at the testing centre informed them that they have run out of testing kits.
The people who went there have also complained that the place was crowded and social distancing norm was not maintained.
After hearing the story the people in the locality are in a panicky situation, it added.
