Imphal, August 04 2020:
The State Bank of India (SBI), Regional Manager, Girindra Sharma, while briefing media persons has warned SBI customers and general public about the rising cases of fake phone calls imitating bank officials asking customers to deposit money in unknown accounts, share ATM pin, internet banking password, OTP and other details.
Sharma reminded of how certain individuals tried to dupe one woman from Nambol asking her to deposit Rs 7000 in one account as processing fees for SBI e-mudra loan, a scheme which is completely online and does not involve such processing fee.
An FIR was registered and police officials have assured of full efforts to arrest the people behind it at the earliest, he said.
The Regional Manager further urged customers to meet the Manager or any other bank officials of their home branch for any clarification pertaining to banking and to use SBI portal, call helpline number or the mobile app during Covid-19 lockdown.
