Nemcha Kipgen inaugurates 70 bedded COVID Care Centre

A 70 bedded Covid Care Centre aimed at accommodating asymptomatic COVID-19 patients for treatment, from Kangpokpi district, was inaugurated at DIET Centre, Leikop (Lhangjol) in Kangpokpi district today.
The COVID Care Centre which prepared for 50 beds and later upgraded to 70, was inaugurated by Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills, Somorjit Salam, IAS, DC Kangpokpi, Hemant Pandey, IPS, SP Kangpokpi, Dr Nilakanta Singh, Chief Medical Officer Kangpokpi, Dr J Touthang, Medical Superintendent, COVID Care Centre and other district officials attended the inauguration function.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen while conveying her appreciation to the Medical Department, the District Administration and workers for their effort in setting up the centre, said that with the increasing number of COVID patients in the state and the alarming likelihood of community transmission, the COVID Care Centre for the district was very much needed.
She also appealed the people of Kangpokpi to maintain community responsibility for proper functioning of the COVID Care Centre.
PPE and other essential requirements for the COVID Care Centre, Institutional Quarantine Centres and for all the frontline workers of the district were distributed before the newly inaugurated centre was inspected by the Minister along with other dignitaries and officials.
Meanwhile, the interview for temporary engagement of staff at COVID Care Centre including 12 Staff Nurse, 3 Multi-Tasking/Office Assistant, 2 Driver and 7 Multi-tasking staff will also be initiated.
