While at Imphal, she would hold a consultation meeting with civil society leaders, NGOs working against violence on women and families of victims.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Mutum Umarani, Convenor of Conflict Widows Forum, Bishnupur District, pointed out that there are numerous cases of violence against women in Manipur but the culprits involved in various crimes are still roam freely as the authorities concerned had not taken up any action against them.
As a result, a number of widows and children are living with no hope of justice.
So, the memorandum to be submitted to the UN Special Rapporteur would highlight all these issues.
It may be noted that UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its causes and consequences (UNSRVAW) Rashida Manjoo accepted the invitation of CSCHR to visit Manipur and the North-Eastern States during her official mission to India.
