Even though a section of people of the district expressed with government decision of replacing the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district, some Kuki villages in the district has expressed welcome to the newly transferred DC, H Dilipkumar today.
Talking to media persons at Nazareth village, spokesperson of the Kuki People Forum (KPF), Robert Gangte, Kuki Students Organisation, Gunpi Block general secretary, Tonglenlan Haokip, Kuki Chief Association, Gunpi Area Chairman, Lunkhojang Baite, Kuki Chief Association, Dingpi Area chairman, Khupmei Haokip, Kuki Welfare Association Area Kuki Chief Association, chairman Chongthang Jou and Kanna Area Kuki Chief Association,chairman, Jangkholun Haokip expressed support to the new DC.
They said apart giving a warm welcome to the new DC, they also wanted to give a farewell to the former DC and also appealed the new DC, Dilipkumar to join his office at the earliest.
They also expressed believed that the newly posted DC will enhance in releasing developmental funds.
They further said that many developmental funds mean for the Chandel district are pending for release.
Among other, funds for BRGF for 2008-09 are still pending.
The final bills for 2007-08 are yet to release.
Wages of 10 days only released so far from the NREGS scheme 2008-09.They also demanded release of special package under IAY.
If the funds for the said schemes are release, the sorrow facing by the people due to late advent of the monsoon can get relief to somewhat extend, they said.
Maintaining that condition of road connectivity in the villages settling by the Kuki is not in good, they also drew the attention of the works minister to look into the matter for improvement.
If the minister does not hear to their appeal, they will launch agitations, they warned.
