Imphal, September 06, 2009:
Labelling the Judicial Inquiry, instituted by the State Government into the twin killings of July 23 a sham exercise, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has called upon the people not to put any faith in the Inquiry Commission headed by Justice PG Agarwal.
In a press hand-out, the Apunba Lup appealed to the people not to extend any sort of cooperation to the Inquiry Commission.
How Rabina died, who killed Sanjit has been already exposed to the whole world, supported by photographic evidences.
Although Chief Minister Okram Ibobi is well aware of the facts and circumstances of the Khwairamband killing, he has been condoning the guilty personnel, it charged.
Instead of punishing the guilty police personnel, the Chief Minister has turned against the people by detaining many under the National Security Act for demanding justice in the fake encounter case, the Apunba Lup asserted.
The Chief Minister's assurance that all those found guilty after Judicial Inquiry would be punished is only a ploy to hoodwink the people.
Pointing out the futility and ineffectiveness of such enquiries, the Apunba Lup reminded that the Upendra Commission had probed 13 different cases.
Out of these, due actions have been taken in only two cases while 11 cases still remain pending.
Necessary action recommended by the Rajkhowa Commission in two cases are still pending.
The Apunba Lup asked if there was any case in which the guilty persons/personnel were punished with the knowledge of the public, based on the findings made by inquiry commissions.
No inquiry commission can pass any judgement nor its reports can be used as evidence in Court.
No FIR can can be registered based on reports of any inquiry commission.
As such, the probe headed by retired Justice PG Agarwal is a sham exercise to hoodwink the people, the Lup asserted.
Accusing Chief Minister O Ibobi of concentrating all state powers in his hands thereby making a mockery of democracy, the Apunba Lup asked how long Ibobi could stand against truth.
Notwithstanding the fact that the situation has deteriorated to such a critical stage, the Congress MLAs and their coalition partners have been serving their leader in a docile manner.
Contrary to their tall claims of being a party of the mass, the CPI is also clinging to the SPF Government just for the sake of the single ministerial berth, the Apunba Lup noted.
Reacting to the reported statement of former MP and JD (S) leader W Kullabidhu that it was not timely to demand Ibobi's ouster, the Apunba Lup asserted that the statement has shown the anti-people attitude of the JD (S) leader.
It's time for both Congress and opposition MLAs to resign and join the people's movement rather than supporting Ibobi, the Apunba Lup exhorted while calling upon the people to carry forward the ongoing movement until justice is done.
