A BSF battalion, out of two battalions proposed for withdrawal, has been shifted out from trouble riddled Manipur to tackle Naxal violence in different Indian states.
The withdrawal of the Central Paramilitary Forces was despite Manipur government urge for reconsideration of the Union ministry of home affairs decision.
Manipur chief minister recently has insisted the Union Home Minister not to pull out BSF troops from Manipur on ground expressing apprehension of hampering counter-insurgency operation in the State.
A well place official source said that the BSF post at Wangjing in Thoubal district, at Ethai and Wangoo in Bishnupur districts have been withdrawn to make a battalion and left Imphal for posting in the naxal hit states.
After the withdrawn of the BSF, personnel of the 3rd IRB posting at langol Tarung Khul in Imphal west have replaced at Wangjing post while CRPF have replaced the Ethai and Wangoo posts, the official said adding one more battalion of BSF will be pulled out at the earliest.
The IRB post at Langol Tarung Khul has been manned by Village Defense Force (VFD) personnel only.
Union ministry of home affairs, considering the Naxal hit areas have become more serious than other insurgency hit states of north eastern region including Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir, has recently decided to pull out Central Paramilitary Forces like BSF and CRPF from these stated deploy to tackle the naxalite violence spread over more than eight states.
The clamor is growing in Indian camp to deploy its forces in naxal infested states like West Bengal, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh to new guerilla zones in other states like Orissa, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to tackle the unexpected rising insurgency.
The Centre has carved out a 'Cobra force' to start an anti-naxalite movement.Considering insufficient to 'Cobra Force' carved recently comprising 10 battalions of CRPF to start anti-naxalite movement with specially trained and equipped, centre is raising more ten battalions of cobra force to fight the Naxalites.
In the last week of August month, at least 10 battalions of CRPF and BSF have been shifted out from the occupied Jammu & Kashmir State to tackle Naxal violence.
