Imphal, September 06, 2009:
A three member team of BJP State unit leaders, led by its president Dr H Borbabu, has left for Delhi today to apprise and give a detailed account of the July 23 killings to the Union Home Minister.
The other members of the team are former Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha and ex-MLA Meinam Bhorot.
The state unit team, together with the BJP Parliamentary team, which visited Imphal in the wake of the Khwairamband incident would call on the Union Home Minister on September 7.The joint team would give a detailed account of the July 23 incident to the Home Minister.
Earlier, it was planned that a joint team of the opposition parties of Manipur would present their cases regarding the July 23 twin killings to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
But the plan has been abandoned due to other schedules of the political parties.
Subsequently, the BJP team went to New Delhi on its own.
Nevertheless, leaders of some other opposition parties currently putting up at Delhi may also join the BJP during the meeting the Home Minister and the Prime Minister, BJP state unit's general secretary Th Shyamo said.
The BJP team would be submitting a memorandum to the Union Home Minister demanding removal of Okram Ibobi from the post of Chief Minister as he, being the Home Minister too, is morally responsible for the fake encounter, intervention of the Central Government and imposition of President's Rule in Manipur taking account of the prevailing law and order situation and punishment of all those guilty for the fake encounter.
Pointing the abject failure of the Ibobi led Govt on all fronts, the BJP team would urge upon the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to impose President's Rule in Manipur.
The team would also meet leaders of various national and international human right groups and apprise them about the excesses committed by security forces in the state.
As the July 23 fake encounter has been exposed both in local and national media with hard evidence, the party leaders would be demanding to book the guilty police commandos under IPC 302 for killing Ch Sanjit and Rabina and injuring five other persons.
Even as the joint team has confirmed their appointment with the Home Minister, they are yet to receive official permission to meet the Prime Minister.
