Vaiphei Association not to participate in Kut celebrations

Imphal, October 14 2015: Young Vaiphei Association (YVA) and Zillai Imphal Block (Vaiphei Students Assn) Imphal has resolved not to participate in the coming Kut celebrations.

In a press note, YVA/ZILLAI Imphal said that in view of the present situation faced by the tribals and as a gesture of respect to the "9 tribal Martyrs", the association took the decision.

YVA asserted that any kind of celebration at the time of mourning is contrary to vaiphei or ZO culture.

YVA/ZILLAI members have always celebrated KUT in heart and soul every year.

However the two bodies felt that celebrating festivals at this juncture is most peculiar and untimely, said the press note.

The two bodies also appealed to all KUT committee state and local levels committees not to organize KUT at this juncture.

The bodies also appeal to all other ZILLAI/YVA Blocks and Units not to make or participate in any kind of celebration until dead bodies of the 9 martyrs are laid to rest.

ZILLAI/YVA appreciated Thazing Lap Committee for cancelling the State level Thazing Lap celebration this year, It has lauded Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod (Manipur Area) the largest Vaiphei Church for cancelling the Manipur Area Joint Presbytery (Kikhawmpi) .

In view of the present situation The ZILLAI Imphal block has also indefinitely postponed the Zillai Imphal Block Post Platinum Celebration.
