Two held with heroin worth ₹27 crore

Imphal, June 11 2022:
Kangpokpi Police on Friday arrested two persons and seized heroin worth Rs 27,15,00,000 in international market.
The arrested persons have been identified as Thaovikhu Mk (21), son of Sahriini of Laii Village, Tadubi, Senapati district and Letkhohao Haokip (42), son of Letkhojang Haokip of T Champhai village, Churachandpur district.
According to a source, a Kangpokpi police team led by SI S Raju conducted frisking and checking near Kalapahar outpost along NH-2 based on information about movement of drug peddlers.
During the frisking, one red Chevrolet Tavera (NL05C-1984) was stopped and on checking, the police team seized 2.995 kg of heroin found concealed in 71 soap cases which would worth around Rs 10,65,00,000 in international market from the possession of Thaovikhu Mk.
He further revealed that he obtained the heroin from one Letkhohao Haokip T Champhai village.
Immediately, the team along with the assistance of Churachandpur Police Station searched Letkhojang Haokip's house and recovered 110 soap cases of heroin worth around Rs 16,50,00,000 in international market.
Altogether, heroin worth Rs 27,15,00,000 in International Market were seized from the two peddlers.
A case has been registered against the two and both were produced in front of the court concerned.
They have been remanded to police custody till June 17, it added.
