Imphal, December 10 2015:
Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) has strongly condemned the attack on journalist Bruce Thangkhal of Churachandpur by the some miscreants at Chakarpur in Gurgaon on December 5, Saturday evening by some local thugs after passing lewd remarks.
Thangkhal is a Delhi Correspondent of "Zogam Today" a Churachanpur based daily news papers.
In a joint statement, MHJU President Sothing Shimray and Secretary S Nengkhanlun said that part from being the media in-charge of Delhi's North East Support Centre & Helpline.
Bruce is also a Press Identity Card holder of Manipur government and a member of Manipur Hill Journalists Union.
The statement said that physical forces and discrimination can never bring love, understanding and peace to the Indian society.
The unprovoked bashing of Bruce Thangkhal just by his racial features is highly condemnable.
The Union expressed pain to think of the unwillingness of the local people to help the victim when he was continuously bashed up mercilessly at the glaring view of the public.
This is unthinkable in a religious country like India where leaders preach of communal harmony across the globe, the statement said.
MHJU appealed for sanity so that there is no racial discrimination in India and demanded the Gurgaon Police to immediately book the culprits and deliver justice to the victim.
The MHJU further urged the State Government to look into the matter so that the racial attacker does not go scot free.
