Imphal, December 10 2015:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has expressed deep concern over Commerce and Industries Department's directive to deposit Rs 2000 each to loan applicants.
The Department issued a notification inviting applications from interested persons to avail loans under 46 different trades recently, MSF said in a statement.
Even as the applicants were waiting for the announcement of the selected list, Commerce and Industries Deputy Secretary issued another notification directing the applicants to deposit Rs 2000 each as training fees on November 15 .
The Department set December 10 as the last date for depositing the said amount, said the student's body.
It further said that when MSF investigated the matter after receiving complaints from many applicants, it has come to light that the notification was issued as per the directive of Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam.
It is questionable why all the applicants should deposit training fees before the announcement of the final selected list, MSF said.
It further questioned whether the deposited fees would be refunded to unselected applicants.
As such, MSF would take up necessary steps against this directive if the deposited fees are not refunded at the earliest.
